Today we're launching our latest series: SF Happenings
If you’re a local, you’re probably already aware that there are a lot of amazing things happening in San Francisco and throughout the Bay Area — from art exhibits and cultural events to outdoor activities and a seemingly never-ending array of new restaurants and other spots opening.
But, in case you didn’t know (or, more likely, are simply having trouble keeping up with them all), we’re launching a new series to help you out.
It’s called SF Happenings, and each Thursday we’ll publish a roundup of the coolest events and fun things to do so you can plan your weekend — and maybe even the next few weeks — with ease. 🙂
Happening This Weekend…
Desi Comedy Fest
What:
Per the festival’s website: “Desi Comedy Fest is the largest South Asian comedy festival in America.
“Desi, pronounced as ‘They- See,’ is a loose term for the cultures and products of South Asia and their diaspora, derived from the Ancient Sanskrit देश (deśá or deshi), meaning Land or Country. ‘Desi’ countries include Afghanistan, Bhutan, Bangladesh, India, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka.”

“See America” Book Signing
What:
Join the Creative Action Network in celebrating the 100th anniversary of the National Parks Service with a signing of CAN’s new book titled See America.
According to the event website, “This family-friendly event will include presentations, book signings, tasty treats, art, and activities for all ages!”

Coming Up in the Next Few Weeks…
All Access Comedy Night
What:
Next month, All Access, which aims to bring together “the biggest names in music and comedy making abortion access a reality,” will host more than 30 events around the country.
Here in San Francisco, All Access is partnering with organizations like NARAL Pro-Choice California to put on a free night of comedy performances. The event will be hosted by Nato Green with a lineup of artists that includes Matt Braunger, Michelle Buteau, Laurie Kilmartin, Baron Vaughn, and Kate Willett.

New Restaurants and Other Spots Opening…
Newa
What:
Newa, which opened its doors last month, is an authentic Nepalese restaurant owned by Roshan Pradhan. Pradhan is also the owner of Red Chilli, an Indian and Nepalese restaurant located in the Tenerloin.
As reported by Hoodline: “Newa’s signature dish is the Newari khaja, which features rice, fried eggs, fried fish, sukuti (dried meat), and more, served on a traditional tapari (leaf plate) imported from Nepal.”
