Crowdsourcing Community Groups Through Government 2.0
The Mayor’s Office of Neighborhood Services, in partnership with the great team over at the Neighborhood Empowerment Network, the City Administrator and the Department of Technology just launched Citidexsf – an online Rolodex of local merchant associations.
Citidex is an example of community crowdsourcing, a fast and low-cost way to link organizations and the communities they serve. What sets Citidex apart is that it doesn’t just provide typical contact information – it allows organizations to provide deeper, more detailed descriptions of their mission and history.
The Citidexsf community-building website doesn’t just connect local people to local services; it connects local services to each other. This city-managed entity is a strong example of Government 2.0 – utilizing digital media to bring government services to you. Of course, as Reset San Francisco readers probably already know, our view is that Government 2.0 must also include Universal Internet Access, so everyone has the chance to access new tools like Citidexsf. You can get involved in our work to close the digital divide here.
