On Wednesday, March 20th, the San Francisco Technology Democrats will host a conversation with the President of San Francisco’s Board of Supervisors, David Chiu.

Dedicated to promoting tech policy across a range of issues including transparency and accessibility, the “SF Tech Dems” will lead a discussion focused on “tech + government + innovation,” one that will also feature the city’s Chief Innovation Officer, Jay Nath. To be held at Marines’ Memorial Club near Union Square, the conversation will offer participants not only a chance to hear new ideas, but also the opportunity to voice feedback, give suggestions and ask questions to some of the city’s most influential officials.

Last October, Mayor Lee unveiled a plan to revise the legislation behind our city’s open data system. In doing so, he neglected to explain how these revisions would further facilitate public action. To better clarify the goals of the revision, as well as explain the new standards proposed, the San Francisco Tech Dems have invited David Chiu to speak and to hold a public Q&A session. He will also outline the duties of the new Chief Data Officer, introduce potential government/private industry collaboration and explain how this revised law will impact San Franciscans in terms of citizen engagement and economic development.

As one of the most innovative cities in the U. S. and home to nearly 2,000 tech companies, San Francisco clearly benefits from an all-access, Open Data system. City leaders know this, and are gearing up with plans to help new entrepreneurs and developers thrive. This Wednesday, San Francisco Tech Dems would like to make sure your voice is heard.
