Can I get help with childcare (day care) in San Francisco right away, or is there a waiting period?
Yes, you may be put on a waiting list for childcare in San Francisco. To add your name to the Human Services Agency wait list for childcare you can call the Centralized Eligibility List at 415-276-2900. When there is an opening and available funding to help your family pay for child care, a childcare center or subsidy program will contact you.
Depending on your income and how many other low income families are requesting help paying for child care, you may have to wait a long time. However, if you are receiving CalWORKs cash aid or have left aid within the past 24 months, you have a right to subsidized child care and do not need to go on the waiting list.
