How do I report a broken building elevator in San Francisco?
If an elevator is broken in a San Francisco building of 7 or more stories, you can wsubmit a report by calling 311, and they will notify the San Francisco Building Inspection Department. You can also submit a notice online. The city will inspect within 1 business day.
For any other elevator-related building code violations in San Francisco, including an elevator that is not properly maintained or lacks proper certification, you can report the issue online under the Other Elevator Code Violation notice. For an elevator-related emergency please call 9-1-1.
