My credit report shows a lien on my record. How do I get a copy of the lien and how do I get it removed from my record?
Under the law, the Assessor-Recorder’s Office cannot release any Federal, State, Mechanic, Local Liens or Abstracts of Judgment from your real property without a Release of Lien from the party that recorded the lien.
The Assessor-Recorder’s Office cannot do anything regarding liens unless the lien was placed by the Assessor-Recorder for Delinquent Transfer Taxes. If the lien was placed by the Assessor-Recorder for Delinquent Transfer Taxes, you can get copies of the recorded lien either in person or by written request (copying charges apply).
