The San Francisco Sunshine Ordinance can only be applied to agencies, commissions and boards that have been established by the City Charter or by Ordinance or Resolution passed by the Board of Supervisors. Other organizations do not have to comply with the Sunshine Ordinance. These include the San Francisco Housing Authority, the San Francisco Health Authority, the San Francisco Transportation Authority, the San Francisco Redevelopment Agency, the Community College District and the San Francisco School District. Instead, these agencies are required to abide by the California Public Records Act and the State open meeting law (known as the Brown Act).
