While many people consider the Golden Gate Bridge red, the Bridge has always been painted an orange vermilion called "International Orange."

The Bridge’s consulting architect Irving Morrow picked the color because it he felt it blended well with the Bridge’s natural setting. The color also provides clear visibility for passing ships.
