The Kin-GAP program, which stands for the Kinship Guardianship Assistance Payment Program, counter balances the financial hardships that might come with taking in a child by providing monthly subsidy payments to relatives who have taken in a child who cannot live with his or her birth parents. The payments which Kin-GAP provides to relatives of a court-dependent child are the same basic rate as that which foster parents receive. The payment is determined on age of the child and may include a clothing and special needs allowance. You can learn more about the Kin-GAP Program by visiting the Human Services Agency of San Francisco
