Why do I have to tag my Clipper Card every time I exit Caltrain?
Because Caltrain is based on a zone system, you have to tag your Clipper card when you enter and exit a Caltrain station so that the Clipper system can calculate the right fare.
Caltrain Monthly Pass holders only have to tag on and off for their first Caltrain ride of the month to make sure the zones on their pass match the zones they ride.
