Here's what you need to know to decide how to vote on San Francisco's Proposition J.
ICYMI: the 2016 election will be held on Tuesday, November 8, with early voting kicking off at San Francisco’s City Hall on Tuesday, October 11.
In addition to voting for officials at the local, state, and national level, San Franciscans will face a decision on 17 state ballot initiatives and 25 local propositions.

What Is Prop J?
Prop J would allocate $50 million annually for the next 24 years to establish a Homeless Housing and Services Fund, which would
- provide services to the city’s homeless population, including housing and Navigation Centers
- programs to prevent homelessness
- assistance in transitioning out of homeless.
Proposition J would also allocate $101.6 million annually for the next 24 years to create a Transportation Improvement Fund, which would be utilized to improve San Francisco’s transportation services.
Who Supports Prop J?
Key supporters of Proposition J include: Mayor Ed Lee and Supervisors Scott Wiener and Mark Farrell.
Supporters argue that Prop J would earmark funds for necessary services to fight the city’s homelessness crisis and improve transportation.
Who Opposes Prop J?
Key opponents of Prop J include: Save Muni, “San Francisco’s only independent transportation think tank.”
Opponents argue that Prop J plays on the widely-felt desire to address San Francisco’s homelessness crisis to divert funds from a variety of city services that are currently strapped for funding and transfer them to one city agency that has already been given billions of dollars.
