State AB 904 allows more discretion to SFMTA in determining parking space requirements
AB 904 (Skinner) is set to be heard tomorrow in Senate Governance and Finance. AB 904 would create appropriate parking standards for smaller lots and infill developments, and therefore focus the investment of housing dollars on affordable units, rather than excess parking. The full text of the bill is available here. The bill fact sheet is available here. Opponents of the bill are fighting hard in advance of tomorrow’s hearing to prevent the bill from passing out of the committee, so it is especially important for those that object to a reduction in parking spaces in SF reach out today to the two Bay Area delegation members on the committee to oppose AB 904, as it gives more discretion to local governments to lower parking requirements.
